Our Vision Caribbean and Latino Film Festival Announces Espacio Migrante to Receive a Special Award for Migrant Rights Advocacy at the 2024 Closing Ceremony

LOS ANGELES, CA, December 28, 2023 — The nonprofit Our Vision Caribbean and Latino Film Festival announced today that the Tijuana, Mexico-based non-profit organization along the Mexico-US border, Espacio Migrante, will receive a special award for their migrant rights advocacy, during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Festival.

The 2024 Festival will take place January 13, 2024, in person in at California State University, Dominguez Hills, and the virtual Festival will take place January 14 – February 14, 2024 via Filmocracy and Hoopla BingePass. Ticket sales begin on January 2, 2024. 

Over the last 15 years, the diversity makeup of the migrant demographic has rapidly evolved into an international mix of migrants from all around the world. Espacio Migrante is a binational community organization based in Tijuana, which works with migrant communities to promote access to Human Rights, such as education and health; provide comprehensive care and at the same time raise awareness in the community about the realities of migrants.

Espacio Migrante has a shelter for migrant families, as well as a cultural and community center where migrants living in Tijuana can participate in community activities, educational programs, cultural events, and health and legal services. Charles Alleyne, Filmmaker & Educator Our Vision Founder 🎞️ is a seasoned feature and short filmmaker and educator. Charles has written, directed, and or produced over +100 short and long-form projects and developed and supervised over +500 student film projects in South Central Los Angeles. As an independent feature film producer, director, and writer, his feature film “Justin Brown” screened internationally in Germany and his short film “Unspoken” captivated audiences throughout Hollywood and Los Angeles.
